Barnard 131a |
The Barnard Objects compiled in the 1927 Frost and Calvert edition of Barnard’s A Photographic Atlas of Select Regions of the Milky Way comprise 349 dark objects numbered 1-370 with several sub numbers. There are no Barnard Objects 52, 131a, and 172, as Frost and Calvert felt they were erroneous duplications of other objects. In Dobek’s 2011 edition of Barnard’s Atlas he included Barnard Objects 52, 131a, and 172. Dobek felt these were genuine, non-duplicated objects Barnard had noted in probably the most crowded fields in the sky making it easy for Frost and Calvert to assume they were duplicate entries. |
